I could have watched 4hours of this movie. Wish he'd make a sequel please.

I saw this at a theatre, which is unusual for me because I never go to theaters and rarely ever watch movies. But I love Mel Gibson and had to see it on the big screen. The movie was stupendous, but I fidgeted the whole time, half-complaining that the average Joe will never realize that the Catholic Spanish Conquistadors put an end to this madness in the name of God. And then the end and I was soooo happy!

It took an Australian director to make a better movie about Mexico than ALL of Mexican cinema

Who thinks 2000-2010 was the greatest decade in Hollywood ever? Most of the masterpieces are made and they cannot be forgotten.. .

Mel's so good, he gets the best technicians and designers to work on his film.

Really enjoyed this movie. Interesting story whether it was accurate or not Historians strongly disliked the film and "Mayans" have labeled it racist I don't know why Apocalypto related content is SUDDENLY popping up in my feed. Is there a sequel or something?

All his movies are special! I`ve fallen in love with Braveheart since I was a kid and this one is just breathtaking! Hollywood does not deserve this man, he is another kind!

I’m surprised the bad guys weren’t Aztec and the locals Mayan. The Mayan cities had declined 600 years before European contact. People may have been living more simply on the Yucatán. The Aztec were expanding at this time and they had practices just like shown here- taking prisoners and sacrificing in this specific way. I don’t know where I’m getting this wrong. Can anyone advise? Were Mayan cities still operating like before the collapse? Is the film accurate visually and everyone involved in it doesn’t know the history? Only the art department?

One observation Mel Gibson missed: At the end scene when they encounter the Spanish Conquistadors landing on the beach, Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer" should have been inserted into the soundtrack. Like many others, this is one of my favorite movies of all time.

One of the best movie ever made. It's like if we traveled and were in a kind of alien place and time, in Mayans time. This feeling... Its just incredible. They are a lot of movies thatI truly love and consider like masterpiece, and this one is clearly on of them, but it will always have a special place. This is pure art, dedication, this is great. Aztecs (not mayans) destroyed themselves, with their primitive customs, when the spaniards arrives, civilization arrives. The problem was also added with the european pocks. And the corruption of their aztec king who sold his own folk. So the folk revolt and killed him.

Lo que no se si se menciona es que un grupo de aztecas invadio una ciudad maya, y empezo a atacar a las otras, imponiendo la brutal practica de matar gente para los dioses. Es bien sabido que los Mayas originales no practicaban el sacrificio humano de la misma intensidad que los Aztecas, los Mayas sacrificaban sangre de los mismos governadores, al punzarse la lengua o el pene.

Hands down one of the best films I've ever seen. Everything about it stands the test of time: story, pacing, characters, acting, music, cinematography, direction, costumes...
